Amusement Trades Exhibitions International (ATEI)
Trade Show

Are you a game developer or publisher looking to participate in the emerging market for PC-Based Coin-Op? Then come to the Amusement Trades Exhibitions International (ATEI) Trade Show in London 27-29 January 98, and check out the PC-based Coin-op Developers Seminar that Quantum3D, Intel and Acclaim have teamed up to provide game developers with all the information you need to get into the coin-op market.

The Seminar will be held on January 27, 1998, from 11:00am - 3:00pm in the Seminar Room, Earls Court 2 at ATEI. The seminar will be moderated by Randy Fromm, coin-op technical heavy weight and author of the "Technical Tips" column in Play Meter magazine. Lunch will be served for all who attend.

Albert Teng
Director, Arcade Market Development, Intel

Albert Teng is a director in Intel's Content Group. As director of arcade market development at Intel Corporation, he is responsible for spearheading Intel's efforts to make the high-end PC to be the platform of choice in the arcade market. During his 14 years at Intel, Teng has been responsible directing several breakthrough projects in technology and market developments. Intel has awarded Albert four Intel Achievement Awards for advancing Intel486 generation software architecture, for establishing the standard of DOS Protected Mode Interface, for founding Intel's first PRC company, and for bringing Intel into new arcade market segment. Prior to joining Intel in 1984, Teng worked as a technical staff member at Bell Laboratories in the computer networking division. He also was a professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Albert received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Ohio State University. He received one software patent and was the author of a computer science textbook.

Bob DeKett
Director of Business Development, Quantum3D Inc.

Bob DeKett's experience in the Coin-Op Amusement Industry spans a 15-year period beginning at Merit Industries as Director of Quality Control. At Merit, Bob later moved into Product Development and played a key role in the design & development of Merit products including their Universal Countertop which housed a variety of JAMMA compatible games, the Merit Trivia Whiz countertop & upright, as well as Merit's line of electronic dart games. In 1990, Bob founded New Image Technologies where he developed the first PC based coin-op video game product called Street Games. This touchscreen multigame countertop won the "Most Innovative Technology" award at that year's AMOA show. Bob continued on with a his consulting group, New Image Consultants, where he designed and developed products for a number of coin-op arcade companies, as well as launching a commercial video monitor company called Eygo of America . In 1996, Bob became a founder of the Paragon Group, where he developed an all-in-one Pentium based multimedia motherboard, designed specifically for the coin-op arcade and interactive kiosk markets.

Ross Q. Smith
Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Quantum3D Inc.

A well known figure in the realtime graphics marketplace, Ross Q. Smith is a 15 year veteran of the PC and workstation world. A co-founder of both Quantum3D and 3Dfx Interactive, Mr. Smith runs sales and marketing at Quantum3D-- the leader in solutions for PC-based coin-op. Prior to founding Quantum3D, Inc. and 3Dfx Interactive Inc. Mr. Smith served in sales and marketing executive positions at Media Vision, Pellucid, MIPS Computer Systems, Silicon Graphics, Tracor Aerospace, Atlantic Research, Ford Aerospace and Geotronics Corporation.

Randy Fromm
Coin-Op Arcade Technical Icon

Randy Fromm has been in the coin amusement industry since 1972 and is well known for his comprehensive technical articles; appearing regularly in the American coin-op industry's leading trade journals. He is currently the technical editor of Play Meter Magazine. Randy's menthusiasm and expertise make him one of the most popular speakers at the American amusement trade shows such as AMOA Expo, ACME and ASI. Fromm has produced a series of technical training videotapes and has published a popular book on the subject of amusement machine repair. He has also condensed his twenty-five years of "in-the-field" experience into a highly efficient technical training program. Known as Randy Fromm's Arcade School, it is the most highly respected and often recommended training program in the American coin-op amusement industry. The Arcade School comes to London, England the week of April 6th through 10th.

John Passierb
President, Acclaim Coin-Op/US

John Pasierb is a 22 year industry veteran who's gaming experience spans coin-operated video and pinball amusement, lottery systems and terminals and licensed gaming equipment. His work in the industry started in 1976 as a game programmer and designer, and as one of Bally/Midways' original engineering staff, he holds a number of patents for graphic display systems. John served as Vice President of Engineering at Bally/Midway from 1982 through 1986. Since then he was Vice President of Lottery System Development at Scientific Games from 1987 through 1991, Vice President of Engineering at American Laser Games from 1992 through 1994, and in 1995 helped start Acclaim Coin Operated Amusement where he currently holds the position of President. Mr. Pasierb received both his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering from Western Michigan University.

Mike Songy
Senior Software Engineer, Quantum3D, Inc.
Mike Songy studied Computer Science at the University of Texas. In August of 1994, he accepted a job at Origin Systems in Austin. At Origin, he worked in QA for a year, playtesting and doing customer support on such titles as Wing Commander III, Wings of Glory, Crusader: No Remorse. He then took a job with Holy Grail Productions in Fremont as a software engineer on a WWII flight sim. Mike worked on a terrain database, renderer, and editor while there. He also helped design an RGB software rasterizer. In August 1997, he accepted an offer from Microprose in Alameda, to work as a senior tools software engineer on Falcon 4.0. He worked on ejection sequence simulation code, the mission record/playback system, and some miscellanious libraries while there. After 2 months at Microprose, he accepted an offer from Quantum3D, to work on device drivers.
